A Scots actor forced a young child to eat his vomit during a catalogue of abuse against two children.

Renar Bain, 44, repeatedly assaulted the children by striking them to the head with her hand while she took care of them at her Edinburgh home.

Bain insisted one of the children eat food that had been dropped on the floor while also making the youngster eat his vomit after being sick.

Bain conducted the abuse of one child for over eight years, while the second child was abused for more than four decades.

The actor and model - who has recently appeared in the blockbuster movie Indiana Jones 5 and Steve Coogan's The Lost King - denied the allegations and stood trial over two days at Edinburgh Sheriff Court this week.

The court was played with recorded police interviews involving both children, who said Bain had regularly struck them to the head during visits to her home.

One child said he had accidentally dropped noodles onto the floor during mealtime and was made to eat the food after Bain had spooned it back onto his plate.

The boy also said on two occasions that he had been sick into his plate at the dinner table, and Bain had separated the food from the vomit and made him eat it.

Bain stood trial over two days at Edinburgh Sheriff Court this week.

Bain also gave evidence to the court through an interpreter claiming the child was "confused" and said threatening him in that way would have been "disgusting".

Bain, originally from Thailand, added: "It would have been cruel, and I would not have done anything like that."

During cross-examination by prosecutor Jack Caster, the actor denied having a short temper, slapping the children, making one eat food that had been on the floor or forcing him to eat the sick.

But, following the evidence, Sheriff Wendy Sheehan found Bain guilty of the three charges after removing allegations of her assaulting both children by hitting them with a metal tube and repeatedly forcing one of the children into a cold shower.

Sheriff Sheehan said Bain had conducted the assaults over "a significant period", and the children had given "clear and compelling evidence" about what happened to them.

Bain was released on bail, and the sentence was deferred to July for preparing criminal justice social work reports.

Bain was found guilty of assaulting one child by repeatedly slapping them to the head between January 1st, 2012, and May 5th, 2020.

She was also found guilty of assaulting the second child by repeatedly slapping them on the head between September 11th, 2016, and May 6th, 2020.

The actor was also found guilty of causing one of the children to be ill-treated in a manner likely to cause them unnecessary suffering or injury to health by insisting he eats food that had been on the floor and repeatedly making him eat his vomit on occasions between September 11th, 2016, and May 6th, 2020.

Bain's Star Now audition website profile states she is a commercial model, actor, TV presenter, DJ, and hairstylist.
