One of the charges dates to 2019.

Lincoln Magistrates Court

A serving police officer with Lincolnshire Police has appeared at Lincoln Magistrates' Court charged with two counts of sexual touching. Liam Shields, 24, is accused of sexually touching a 14-year-old girl in Lincoln between February 1st and May 31st, 2019, and sexually touching a woman aged sixteen or over in Grantham on May 26th, this year.

Shields, who was based in Stamford, is currently suspended from duty. He was brought up from the cells at the magistrates' court on Saturday, May 28th, into the secure dock of courtroom number six, where two security officers guarded him.

Dressed in grey sweatshirt and trousers, Shields of Glencorm Gardens, Grantham, spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and address. No pleas were indicted, and magistrates granted Shields conditional bail. He must stay at his mother's talk with an electronic tag curfew in force daily between 6 pm and 6 am.

Further conditions stipulate that he must not have any contact with witnesses and complainants and no unsupervised contact with anyone under sixteen. Shields' case has been adjourned to a date in late June when he is expected to attend a plea and directions hearing at Lincoln Crown Court.

Solicitor Eve Patterson represented shields in court, and Marie Stace acted for the Crown Prosecution Service. Lincolnshire Police’s Professional Standards Department has been informed of the allegations, and the force will make a referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
